Positive Psychology

Along the way in this work, I became attracted to the developing science and study of positive psychology. Traditional psychology studied what was wrong in a person’s life, but positive psychology included a new mindset meaning what is right in our lives. That is- how to cultivate the thoughts of what is going well in my life, and how to focus on strengths. The development of the study of character strengths has become an area of study within positive psychology on how to identify and use ones character strengths to foster resilience.

I would like to share some basic key points associated with the study of positive psychology that I make use of in my life, and private practice.
I would also like to share with you how I use character strengths in my own life and how you all can learn to use character strengths too.

A useful exercise to do to prepare for my talk includes taking the VIA survey at https://www.viacharacter.org
I recommend you take this free survey at this site so you can bring your list of character strengths with you for participation and discussion.

I look forward to meeting with all of you.
