For many of us, relationships are some of the most fulfilling parts of our lives, but they can also be some of the most challenging. Whether with a partner, family member, friend, or even our children, relationships have a way of bringing our deepest emotions, insecurities, and vulnerabilities to the surface.
What if some of our most difficult relationship experiences also hold opportunities for meaningful personal growth?
We often become so focused on changing our circumstances or understanding the other person that we miss what our own experiences might be showing us. Our relationships can reveal patterns we learned long ago, bring awareness to unresolved wounds, and offer opportunities to heal both personal and generational trauma.
In this experiential presentation, Dr. Angela Chafee will offer a fresh perspective on how we approach relationship difficulties and explore how these experiences can become opportunities for greater self-awareness, healing, and transformation.
Through personal reflection, guided exercises, and practical strategies, participants will learn how to stay connected to themselves in challenging relationships, better understand their emotional responses, recognize patterns that may be holding them back, and create more authentic, fulfilling connections with themselves and others.
Because sometimes the most important relationship we can begin to heal is the one we have with ourselves.
Dr. Angela Chafee is a licensed clinical psychologist who has spent more than 14 years helping individuals and couples better understand themselves, their relationships, and the experiences that shape who they are. She earned her Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology from the University of Hartford in 2011 and has worked in a variety of settings, including community mental health, hospitals, and private practice.
Much of Angela’s work centers on the ways our past experiences, relationships, and attachment patterns influence how we see ourselves and connect with others. She is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and Certified Somatic Therapy Foundations Practitioner, with advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples and other integrative therapeutic approaches.
In her private practice, Angela works with individuals and couples navigating relationship challenges, trauma, and the patterns that can leave us feeling stuck or disconnected. She has a particular passion for working with high-functioning women who may appear to have it all together on the outside while quietly struggling with anxiety, self-doubt, overwhelm, or the pressure to keep everything going. She enjoys helping people move beyond simply managing what feels difficult and toward a deeper understanding of themselves, greater self-compassion, and more meaningful connection.
Angela brings a genuine curiosity about the complexities of being human to her work. She believes there is so much we can learn about ourselves through our relationships, including through the moments that challenge us most. Her hope is to help people approach those experiences with greater awareness, compassion, and a little more grace for themselves and one another.
